Installing Ubuntu is the process of loading the Ubuntu Linux family of operating systems onto a desktop computer, laptop, tablet or virtual machine. Typically, a minimal Ubuntu environment is preloaded from a USB flash drive, optical media or over a computer network. From there, power users can install Ubuntu using a tool supplied with the pre-installed environment. There are two types of installation: (1) A command line installer whereby the installer is done from a command line, or (2) A graphical install where the installation takes place using a tool.
